Hall of Fame Hopes - Is The Third Time A Charm?

This is a big weekend for basketball. And this is also a big week for me because I'll be finding out if I made the Hall of Fame. I'll be getting the call this week letting me know if I made it, and if I did, I'll be heading to Dallas.

Hopefully the third time is a charm, and hopefully I get in this year. What would make it even more special would be to go in with some of my teammates, Alonzo Mourning and Mitch Richmond. Also, Al Attles, from the Golden State Warriors front office. It will be hard for all of us to get in at the same time, but I can still wish.

I think it's very meaningful to any individual to go in to the Hall of Fame. It's a big accomplishment and an acknowledgement that you did something great for the fans, great for the game. Look at the greats who are representing the Hall of Fame - Larry Bird, Magic Johnson, Michael Jordan, Dr. J, Moses Malone...I think anybody would want to be in that company.

Of course it will hurt for a while if I don't get in, but you have to go on with your life. Just like making a jump shot for the championship...you can't start saying coulda, shoula, woulda! Plus, you always have that fourth, fifth, sixth, seventh chance to get in! But, everybody wants to get in on the first try...and like I said, I hope the third time's a charm for me!

I won't be able to tell anybody (except for my immediate family) when I get the call, so I won't be blogging about this until the Hall of Fame announces their new class. Mitch Richmond and I spoke a little about it. Of course, we said it would be nice to go in together, but we don't want to jinx each other, so that was the extent of the conversation. Then we went on to talk about something else.

No matter what happens, I'm still very excited about the Final 4. No question I'll be watching! There are some good teams out there representing the NCAA, and these are going to be some hard-fought games. All four of these teams have great guard play, and that's why they are there! And I do think these are the best teams. Why? Because they won.

But since Michigan is out, I can't say much more. It was a great game, but it was also very upsetting. Man, that game gave me a headache!
